July 7th Our Hog Roast and Jazz evening at Philip Wilson's house was the first event of President Martin's Year.After weeks od bad weather we had a beautiful evening and had a really enjoyable evening with the proceed going to our Charities, Families in Focus and CHESS. We were pleased to welcome Rotarian visitors from Rayleigh Mill, Brentwood Breakfast, Brentwood, Mildmay,Maldon and from Lagos Nigeria. Find more photos here See all the pictures by Pet here |

July 4th Rivermead went to the dogs! Literally! We held our handover meeting in the Pavillion Restaurant at Romford Stadium. President Gwyn's last official event was to invest Kathy Hungerford as an Honorary member. Kathy's health has prevented her joining Rivermead as a full Rotarian, but her support of us in our fund raising events truly epitomises "Service over Self". Kathy works as a community nurse. April 11th Our guest speaker was Simon Burns MP who gave an illuminating talk on life as an MP. This was a very interesting talk on the mechanics of government at the highest level and the role and difficulties of being the Official Opposition party |

February 2nd Colin Brown was inducted as our 2nd new member of the year. Colin was introduced by Roger Shilling who he has known for some time. |

December 2nd A St Andrew's night celebration. This major social event ended up making a good profit towards our charities. Seen here the President and Secretary enjoying themseleves under the eagle eye Yvonne Spence our very able caller for the evening. |

October 10th Several memebers attended the opening of the District Postcard Campaign raising funds for the Royal Marsden Drug Development Unit. This campaign sold Postcrads as raffle tickets for a Vauxhall Car. During December Rivermead provided the manning of the stand on two days. |

October 2nd Several memebers attended the Mayor's Charities Auction of Promises. President Gwyn won the silent Auction to have ironing done professionally. Joy oh Joy!! One of the Charities, Families in Focus is one of our adopted local charities. |

August 31st Saw the Induction of Mark Jones, who has transferred from Aberdeen. Mark comes to Essex as Deputy-Chief Fire Officer. He is seen here with President Gwyn and Assistant Governor area 5 Ken Buck (Chelmer Bridge) |

July13th. We made a further cheque presentation to Martin Reed of Send-a-Cow our international charity |

July 12 President Gwyn and Secretary Graham attended the South African visitors farewell event, a splendid river cruise from Tilbury to Greenwich and back with a guided tour of the Greenwich Hospital site and painted Hall |

July 5th. Visit of Bill Cozens from Rotary Club of Gately, East London, South Africa as part of the Friendship exchange. He was presented with a Club banner. Bill's wife Jenni joined him for breakfast at which our speaker was Rachel Ellis from Families in Focus one of Rivermead's charities for 2006-7 (close the pictures to return to this page). This was also the first meeting of President Gwyn's year |

Our 06-07 handover meeting was a social event in the Police Club after a visit to Essex Police Control Room and the Essex Police Museum. These were arranged by outgoing President Ian Smith. Incoming President Gwyn Calvert-Painter found the perfect hat to match her outfit. Other pictures from the evening may be found here
