July 5th.

Visit of Bill Cozens from Rotary Club of Gately, East London, South Africa as part of the Friendship exchange. He was presented with a Club banner. Bill's wife Jenni joined him for breakfast at which our speaker was Rachel Ellis from Families in Focus one of Rivermead's charities for 2006-7 (close the pictures to return to this page). This was also the first meeting of President Gwyn's year

March 29th.

84 Rotarians and their guests from 5 clubs sat down to an excellent meal at the County Hotel Chelmsford to celebrate the end of Rotary's 100th year. The key note speaker for the evening was Rtn. Geoff Mackey who was both entertaining and thought provoking. After his speech cabaret was provided by Nick Slade.

February Ist

New Member Ian Pessel was inducted into Rivermead. Ian is a partner in a firm of accountants with offices in Chelmsford and Southend.

During the meeting Rtn. Victoria Burman gave us details of the Essex Youth Orchestra Musical Evening on 4th March in Chelmsford Cathedral

21st December 2005

21st December saw a successful Champagne breakfast at the Saracens Head. This was by way of a Christmas Celebration and an opportunity for members to bring along potential members. In all some 46 people enjoyed a a festive event. Rtn Paul Beasley Murray set the tone with an enjoyable icebreaker and rounded off the breaskfast with a few words on the meaning of Christmas.It was good to see him looking better after his recent scare and we hope his sabbatical will return him to us in good shape.

22nd August

Niger Crisis: Rivermead organised a collection in Chelmsford on 19th and 20th August and raised £1462.07 for the Disasters Emergency Committee. Thanks to all Chelmsford Rotarians who helped and particular thanks to DG Sandra who helped all Saturday morning.

On two Saturdays in January members from Chelmsford Rivermead were joined by fellow Rotarians from Chelmsford, Chelmsford Mildmay and Chelmsford Chelmer Bridge Rotary clubs in coordinated street collections in Chelmsford Town Centre to raise money for the Tsunami devastated fishing communities in Sri Lanka.

The picture shows Rtns Gwyn Calvert-Painter and Graham Hart by the Chelmsford town sign. The two collections together with a large donation raised just over £2500. This will attract a matching grant from RIBI and will be distributed in Sri Lanka via Rotary District 3220
